About

Enjoy a talk, followed by a hands on demonstration, celebrating fifty years of the West Yorkshire Astronomical Society.

Come along and see the Rosse Observatory in Carleton, Pontefract, which was opened on 25th September 1983 and this is will be your chance to see the facilities. After the short talk, you will be able to look round the observatory and go up into the Dome to see the large telescope. There will be telescopes and binoculars out on the pad for you to look through.

Hopefully, weather permitting, you will be able to view Saturn and Jupiter as well as other objects in the night sky.

Young viewers are especially welcome!

Pre booking to visit the West Yorkshire Astronomical Society at the Rosse Observatory is required. Please email young.astronomers.wyas@gmail.com to book your place.
