Writing History – Exploring the History of Westgate

In 2022, the Wakefield Civic Society published a book on the history of Westgate. This talk, with Kevin Trickett MBE, will tell the background story to the book and explain some of the history of the street.

As part of the Westgate Heritage Action Zone project funded by Wakefield Council and Historic England, the Society published a book about the history of the street and surrounding area. The book’s author, Civic Society President Kevin Trickett, will give an illustrated talk about how the book came to be written while exploring the history of the Heritage Action Zone .

The talk will be held in the Society’s room at the Town Hall and everyone who attends will be given a free copy of the book.
