The first date fur your diary is Paws In The City, a brand-new event by Wakefield BID and RSPCA Leeds, Wakefield & District Branch. This is a fantastic day celebrating dogs, community and all things pawsome, right in the heart of the city centre. Taking place on Northgate, just outside Wakefield Cathedral, the day will bring together dog lovers, local businesses and plenty of four-legged friends for a fun, welcoming day out.

National Police Dog Trials 2026

Head to National Trust Nostell to unleash the action at the National Police Dog Trials! Hosted by West Yorkshire Police, this annual event brings together the UK’s top police dog teams in a celebration of canine excellence. Expect jaw‑dropping skill, focus and fur‑midable teamwork alongside den building, woodland trails, food and drink stalls, a live band and more. Sit, stay… be amazed!

This pup-ular event returns to National Coal Mining Museum in September! Paws At The Pit is a joyful celebration of all things canine, packed with treats, games, and activities the whole family will love.

Last year featured delightful doggie goodies and interactive games, live demos and pet-friendly stalls, a Best in Show competition, and lots more!

Paws in the Parkland

Get set for paws, applause and plenty of wow moments at Paws in the Parkland, Nostell‘s second dog event of the year! Join the gang on the grass in front of the house and let your dog enjoy the agility equipment. The fun, free play area will include hurdles, seesaws, tunnels and long jumps. Don’t leave without taking the perfect ‘paw-trait’ of your pooch looking posh in front of the grand Palladian mansion!
