From the start of the school holidays, visit and explore Junction 32’s shaded beach (near M&S) complete with its own beach hut. What’s more, they’re throwing a wonderfully traditional summer celebration and inviting you to join in some craft workshops in August. Did we mention it’s completely free to enter? It’s the perfect place for a day of family fun – or somewhere to take the kids when they’re bored of shopping!

Sandpit at A Grand Day Out

A Grand Week Out at Castleford Market

The outdoor sandpit returns alongside deckchairs and traditional funfair rides, bringing even more seaside charm to the town centre. And on Saturday, a face painter will be on hand to add a splash of colour to the day.

In the Indoor Market, the event space will be transformed into a playful indoor picnic space, complete with artificial grass, picnic benches and a wide range of giant games including Connect 4, Jenga, Snakes and Ladders, Tetris, dominoes and even a block play area for toddlers!

Seaside in the Park, Featherstone

Hemsworth Water Park is somewhere for the whole family to get out and enjoy themselves. Little visitors will love building sandcastles on the beach and jumping, sliding and swinging in the outdoor adventure playground. Jump on a pedalo for a delightful boat ride around the main lake.  Plus, if you’ve forgotten your bucket and spade you can always call in to the Beach Shop which stocks everything you need for a day on the sand – including ice creams of course!
