Proms at the Castle

Wakefield Armed Forces Day

Wakefield Armed Forces Day is a free, family event at Pontefract Park celebrating the contributions of serving and veteran armed forces members. It features activities like a Wings Free Fall Parachute display, a veterans’ parade, and military displays, offering a close-up view of the armed forces’ capabilities. Visitors can also enjoy street food, a bar, community stalls, a funfair, and a craft market. And make sure you keep your eyes to the sky for the flypast from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight!

Getting Here

The charming West Yorkshire market town of Pontefract makes a great location for a staycation!

The town is easy to get to, as it is located at the junction of the A1 and M62, and is served by three train stations (Baghill, Monkhill and Tanshelf).
