As part of the Our Year 2024 Crossings and Gateways Programme, Studio Brett created a new mural at The Addy (Old Quarry Adventure Playground) in Knottingley.
The family community centre and playground partnered with local artist Studio Brett to develop a new mural called ‘Darn at The Addy’, with an aim to brighten up a neglected area at the entrance of their playground.
The design was created through consultation with families and children who use The Addy. They drew up inspirations of the playground, focusing on its bright colours. Studio Brett put all their images together to create with the final design.
The children who had been part of the consultations were then able to help Studio Brett paint the final mural and supported painting the first coats.
“The mural celebrates a happy local environment from birth to 100. It was designed by kids that use our facility and is a compilation of all their favourite things about The Addy. We hope the mural leaves legacy for children in the future to enjoy” – The Addy
