The Friends of Friarwood Valley Gardens received a Culture Grant from Wakefield Council as part of Our Year 2024. They partnered with Enabling Youth Motocross CIC to engage young people in Pontefract in a creative project. Together, they organized a graffiti art session led by local artist Martin Hayhurst.

The young participants worked on designing a mural for the large container in Friarwood Valley Gardens. Their design reflects what Pontefract means to them, bringing their unique perspectives to life. With guidance from Martin, they painted the mural themselves, transforming the container into a vibrant piece of community art that showcases the spirit of the town through the eyes of its youth.
