Located 4 miles south-east of Wakefield, Anglers Country Park is a perfect place to explore for nature lovers, walkers, dog walkers, cyclists, picnickers - and not forgetting those little adventurers!
Once known as one of the deepest open cast coal mines in the country reaching a depth of 250 feet, Anglers Country Park has since flourished into a beautiful haven for wildlife including many migratory birds. See the latest nature sightings noted on the blackboard at the entrance to the park before exploring the countryside for yourself. What wildlife will you spot?
Anglers Country Park has been awarded Green Flag status - recognising it as one of the best parks in the country. A central lake is surrounded by grassland, woodland and a wetland area known as the 'Pol' giving you an array of place to explore.
Enjoy a relaxing stroll along the two mile lakeside path. Feeling active? Extend your route to explore the wider countryside; choose a woodland walk or head out onto the Barnsley Canal towpath. The path around the lake is both wheelchair and pushchair friendly and electric mobility scooters are available free of charge for use within the park.
The Woodland Café is open 9am-4pm every day and offers the opportunity for a well-deserved break and the chance to grab some delicious food and a hot or cold drink.
