About
The first ‘free’ public library in Pontefract was built with money donated by the famous philanthropist Andrew Carnegie. The Art Nouveau building was officially opened on 21 September 1905 and is now Pontefract Museum. The current library was opened in 1975 and is in front of the original building.
Visit the library and open your mind to reading! With access to a wide range of books, local and family history collection (including 2 microform readers!) and a programme of weekly activities for all ages, Pontefract Library is the place to expand your mind.
