Blue Plaque Walk

Join the Wakefield Civic Society in a guided walk around Wakefield highlighting the City’s fantastic history and culture. Hear about the history of some of Wakefield’s buildings and the people associated with them.

The walk, which will be at a gentle pace, will cover part of the Society’s growing collection of blue plaques and will be based on the Society’s new blue plaque book, published in 2023. A free copy of the book, produced with funding support from Wakefield Council, will be given to each person taking part.

This guided walk is part of the Society’s contribution to the Our Year 2024 programme of events and activities being held across the Wakefield district in 2024.

Please note that the walk will be around the Wood Street/St John’s/Northgate area of Wakefield and will cover a walked distance of approximately one and a half miles. Although over level ground, there will be kerbs and some surfaces are uneven.
