About
For 100 years, Horbury was a centre of high tech, high quality sports manufacturing.
This talk reveals how a saddler’s apprentice founded the business that would become possibly the largest sports equipment factory in the world. Discover the craftsmanship of William Sykes Ltd and the innovative science and technology of Dunlop Slazenger. See iconic products used at the World Cup and Wimbledon and hear the stories of the local people who made them.
The talk will take place in the Learning Zone, which is located inside the main Wakefield Library space on the Upper Ground Floor of the Wakefield One building.
This is part of Our Year – Wakefield District 2024.
