Enjoy a summer of free live performances from local artists at Pontefract Castle! Bring a picnic, sit back, enjoy the free music and bask in the sunshine in the historic grounds.
Trevor Bird: 2 August, 12pm to 2pm
Stories of castles, battles, witches and pits are put to songs that describe the bloodiest stories from God’s own county and beyond.
Trevor delves into the political and industrial local past from the Middle Ages to the recent times. Guitar and vocals from the folk tradition.
Masters of Mellow: 9 August, 12pm to 2pm
Masters of Mellow specialise in music to sing along to, or to just chill to. They perform music driven by high quality musicianship and tight harmony. Enjoy a wide range of material, from the sometimes haunting tunes of Simon and Garfunkel and the finger-picking punch of country music, to the classics of Bob Dylan, Mark Knopfler, James Taylor, Ricky Nelson and Don McLean. There’s also a bunch of home-grown numbers. Enjoy a mix of songs which trigger fond memories, or create them.

Belle Velvet: 16 August, 12pm to 2pm
Belle Velvet is an award-nominated singer, songwriter and performer. Her unique blend of soulful melodies and powerful vocals have rapidly catapulted her to the forefront of the UK music scene. Beyond her live performances, Belle Velvet is also a talented and passionate songwriter. Her original music has earned widespread acclaim. Her most recent EP “Words And A Melody”shot into the top 5 of the iTunes charts. With a sound that fuses classic music with modern pop, country music to powerhouse ballads, Belle resonates deeply with listeners. She makes an emotional impact while remaining accessible and fresh.
Brad Jack: 23 August, 12pm to 2pm
Brad Jack is an acoustic musician playing indie-influenced folk. His singles “Little Letter” and “Blackbird” received plays on BBC Introducing upon release. Brad has supported artists such as Tom Hingley and Rachel Croft.
