Pontefract Castle’s biggest musical event returns for 2023!
Join us for a magnificent evening of music and light as we proudly present the West Yorkshire Symphony Orchestra. Bring along friends and loved ones to listen to moving melodies as the sun goes down over the Castle. The concert will end with a firework finale.
Bring a picnic or enjoy fantastic food and drink from local traders and settle in for an unforgettable event.

Concert starts at 7.30pm and ends at 10pm. Gates open 5.30pm.
Tickets: £16 Adults and £12.75 Child + booking fee.

What time does the event start? Gates open from 5.30pm, concert starts at 7.30pm, concert finishes at approximately 9.45pm
Do you offer refunds? Tickets are non-refundable, the show will go on whatever the weather, please be prepared.
Are refreshments available? There will be food and drink available to buy on the night, but you are welcome to bring a picnic and alcohol. No BBQ’s permitted. Please drink responsibly and take home any litter.
Is there any seating? Please bring your own low backed seats. Large umbrellas or tents are not allowed.
Is the event outdoors? The event takes place outdoors on the main grassed area of the castle and will take place whatever the weather. Please note that large umbrellas or shelters are not allowed.
Can I bring my dog? No dogs allowed except assistance dogs. Please ensure that they are comfortable with fireworks.
Where can I park? Please use town centre car parks which are mostly free after 6pm. Further info available here.
I have a blue badge, where can I park? Limited parking for blue badge holders only is available in the castle car park WF8 2JF. Passengers may be dropped off at the top of Spink Lane but the road directly outside the castle gates will be closed for the event.
Can I smoke during the event? Smoking or vaping is not allowed in the grounds of Pontefract Castle. A smoking area will be available outside the main gates.
Will there be an interval? Yes, there will be an interval
Is there anything for children? Children must be supervised throughout the event. Please do not bring ball games.
Can tickets be purchased on the night? Tickets will not be available on the night
Why is there a booking fee? The booking fee is payable to Eventbrite to cover the costs of processing the bookings and payments. We do not benefit from this.
COVID-19: For your safety please observe social distancing and hygiene etiquette. You should not attend the event if you or anyone in your group are experiencing COVID symptoms. We are unable to offer refunds if you are unable to attend due to COVID related illness or self-isolation.
