About

Get ready for an extraordinary community event that brings history, wheels and local spirit together! WheelFest transforms Pontefract’s town centre into a vibrant showcase of mechanical marvels and historical heritage. From vintage classics and American muscle cars to emergency vehicles, bikes, scooters, and even model railways, this is a day that celebrates everything with wheels.

But WheelFest is more than just a car meet – it’s a full-day family festival where history comes alive. The Ropergate area will be transformed into a 1940s celebration zone, commemorating Pontefract’s remarkable contributions during World War II. Expect military vehicles, historical exhibitions, vintage entertainers and a nostalgic atmosphere that transports you back in time.

Explore over 40 craft stalls at St Giles Church, enjoy live entertainment on multiple stages and browse the regular Saturday market. Local businesses, bars and cafes will be bustling with activity, and charity stalls will add a community-focused touch to the event. Best of all, admission is completely FREE for both vehicle exhibitors and the public!

Highlights include:

  • Diverse vehicle displays
  • 1940s historical zone
  • Live local entertainment
  • Radio broadcasts
  • Craft fair
  • Children’s activities
  • Costumed character parade

Don’t miss this unique celebration of Pontefract’s wheels, history, and community spirit!

This event is being run by volunteers from Pontefract Civic Society, a charity, with the permission and partnership of Wakefield Council.
