About

Golf has been played at Pontefract & District Golf Club since 1904 when the founding members created a nine-hole course on land belonging to the local park, and in the early 1920s a completely new course was laid out on adjoining land.

Around a decade later, the golf course was extended to 18 holes based on a layout that was drawn by Dr. Alistair MacKenzie, the famous designer who was the mastermind behind world-renowned courses such as Augusta National, Cypress Point, and Royal Melbourne to name a few.

The current course is the result of a major re-routing which commenced during the late Nineties, with the first three holes occupying a substantial amount of new purchased land.

Guests can relax in the clubhouse, which is split into the 19th and a large dining area which share an outdoor terrace overlooking the putting green and 18th.

Beginners are welcome, as are juniors and there is a group session for juniors every Saturday during the season.
