About

The Vic is a much-loved community pub and is Ossett Brewery’s second tenancy with licensees Tanya and Dale.

The Vic offers drinkers a traditional but stylish environment in which to enjoy Ossett Brewery ale and Vinnie G’s Caribbean Kitchen.

In addition to the bar and dining room – a lounge, pool room and furnished terrace define this outstanding house as a true all-rounder.

The Vic is a pub with a history: “The Victoria” originally opened in the mid 1800s to cater for the growing population of South Ossett.

Many of its early customers worked in the woollen industry including at the newly-built Victoria Mills of the Ellis brothers. The Ellis family not only provided work, but also housing for their workers just a few yards away from the pub. Over the years the pub acted as a meeting place for miners demanding better working conditions, a place for coroners’ inquests as was the norm with many pubs at this time and an entertainment venue such the ‘miscellaneous’ concert staged in 1864 by the owner of a Wakefield music hall.

Today, The Vic hosts regular live music acts as well as quiz nights, card nights and more.
