Visit West Yorkshire and experience culture like never before 2023-2025! Starting with Leeds 2023 and Music in Kirklees, before Wakefield’s Our Year and CultureDale in 2024. Finally, Bradford takes centre stage as the UK City of Culture 2025.
Leeds 2023
LEEDS 2023 is a year-long celebration of culture in an extraordinary city and everybody can be a part of it.
2023 will be a transformational year like no other. This year experience the city of Leeds like never before with an exciting programme of curated events designed to let culture loose.
Leeds is a city of contrasts, where the biggest names take to the stage alongside undiscovered talent. Where you’re just as likely to find the joy of dance pounding the pavements in carnival dress as you are to find it sweeping across a stage in ballet flats.
The whole city is a stage, emerging and exciting, vibrant, and energetic with a vibe you won’t experience anywhere else.
Leeds is a city with culture around every corner and this year is their time to shout about it. Leeds 2023 is working with local, national and international artists and communities to create a celebration that’s for Leeds, with Leeds and inspired by Leeds.
Music in Kirklees, 2023
What is the Kirklees Year of Music?
Kirklees is a district of world class music that stands proud on its rich and diverse musical heritage. Music is the beat of their heart, it is the sound of their communities, and it is the pulse of their towns and villages.
Kirklees is a place where everyone can hear world class music through festivals and programming; where children and young people have access to high quality musical experiences and education; and where the next generation of musicians and music professionals can build and sustain a high-quality career, with access to the very best industry advice, career opportunities and performance routes.
2023 will be a year where this vision comes to life, where residents are able to enjoy the richness and diversity of music today, inclusive of all genres, all communities and in all forms. Kirklees’ Year of Music will give opportunity and space to encounter new and traditional music, where you will be invited to be part of a community that lives and loves music.
Our Year – Wakefield District 2024
Our Year – Wakefield District 2024 will be a transformative 366-day programme of cultural and heritage activity.
It will galvanise communities and visitors alike to share and celebrate the vibrant people, places and stories that make up our district.
Our Year will enable everyone everywhere to explore and discover the Wakefield district and ignite their own creativity. By working with our partners, we will bring together our collective resources, expertise, and passion, so that Our Year can inspire the whole district and beyond.
More than ever before, the people of Wakefield recognise the positive impact of arts and culture on their quality of life and with it their personal health and wellbeing. With communities at its heart, Our Year’s programme will drive forward an outstanding quality of life for everyone.
Calderdale 2024
Welcome to CultureDale.
CultureDale fuses ‘Calderdale’ and ‘Culture’ in a way that only they can own. It reflects the diverse, vibrant and engaging culture of Calderdale, which runs through every aspect of the region as a destination, with a unique and engaging cultural identity. CultureDale is about hearts and minds as well as a destination. It is a special place where rich history, amazing landscapes, incredible people, unforgettable characters, vision and entrepreneurship all reside.

Bradford 2025
Bradford is UK City of Culture 2025.
The year is set to deliver more than 1000 new performances and events including 365 artist commissions, a series of major arts festivals as well as exciting national and international collaborations.
As the UK’s youngest city (29% of our population are under 20 and nearly a quarter under 16), our young people will help deliver a year of culture that is both recognisably Bradford and
Bradford’s history of fierce independence and of progressive social reform and its spectacular cultural heritage offer a powerful launchpad for a UK City of Culture celebration in 2025 that could only happen in Bradford.
Bradford 2025‘s themes will be rooted in the unique heritage and character of Bradford and will reveal the magic of the district that is held in its people, its ambition, and above all, its potential.
