Artwalk is back with an exciting new programme of events for 2022!

Kicking off the year (and seeing off those gloomy January days) on Wednesday 26 January, highlights include new exhibitions at Wakefield Cathedral and Cathedral Kitchen, plus not one but three new shows launching at The Art House from artists Paula Chambers, Hassun El-Zafar, and Tony Fisher.

At Wakefield Cathedral visitors will discover ‘A Calder River Journey’, a new exhibition of photographs by Mark Russell.

Whilst next door in the Cathedral Cafe, artist Jan Parsons will present ‘Small Wanderings’, a series of abstract paintings created during the Spring and Summer of 2021.

January’s Artwalk will also be the last chance to see artist Malgorzata Dawidek’s Artwalk Commission ‘A NET OF EMOTIONS’ at 15 Northgate alongside the varied range of inspiring pop-up exhibitions taking place across the city centre that Artwalk is famous for.

As it’s the start of a new year, the team behind Artwalk will be on hand throughout the night for visitors to meet the team, share ideas and feedback, find out how you can exhibit or produce events as part of the upcoming programme, and sign-up to our volunteering opportunities.

At 18:30 there will also be a free walking tour, taking in five artist commissions launched during 2021.

The tour will start from The Art House, lead up to Wakefield Cathedral along Westgate and end at The Ridings Shopping Centre. The tour is wheelchair accessible and will take approximately 45 minutes.

Advanced booking is advised but you can also sign-up on the night, see the Artwalk Wakefield website for details.

Follow Artwalk Wakefield on social media and join their mailing list to make sure you don’t miss a thing.
