It’s time for the Dragon Parade at Pontefract Castle! Make some noise and join the party.


We’ll have lots of fun free things to get involved with throughout the day. All activities are free!


Dragon Parade Crafts


SEND relaxed bookable session 10am to 11am.


Open drop-in crafts 11am to 2pm


Get crafty and make your own dragon kite for the parade! Make your own mini instrument to join the parade band.


At 10am to 11am we have a relaxed SEND bookable session of the crafts. SEND groups are welcome at all our events, but we are running this for visitors who prefer a more relaxed atmosphere.


The same crafts are available drop-in from 11am to 2pm!


Dragon Parade – 2pm


Join Ilbert the Dragon on a parade around Pontefract Castle!


Dress up in your own dazzling dragon outfits. Bring along the new crafts you’ve made to join the party.


It’ll be roarsome!


Meet Ilbert and John Turner, Town Crier – 10am, 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 3pm

Storytelling with Dave the Knight – between 10am and 1pm


Join Dave the Knight for storytelling on the bailey!


Hear tales of a lazy king waking a sleeping dragon by digging in the mountains. Discover how a knight and a princess worked together to send the beast back to a peaceful sleep!


Face painting (in the bandstand) – 10am to 3pm


Get your face painted for free! Will you be a dragon, a knight, a fairy or something else entirely?
