Travelling By Rail

Castleford is served by two convenient railway stations — Castleford and Glasshoughton — offering easy links across West Yorkshire.

Castleford Station sits on the Hallam and Pontefract lines, with regular Northern and TransPennine Express services providing connections to Leeds, Sheffield, Knottingley, Manchester and the recently reintroduced direct link to York.
Glasshoughton Station, located beside Xscape and Junction 32 Shopping Centre, offers hourly services to Leeds and Knottingley, making it a handy option for visitors heading to the leisure and shopping areas.

Travelling By Bus

Castleford is well‑connected by bus, with frequent services arriving into Castleford Bus Station on Albion Street. The station is served by major operators including Arriva, Ross Travel and Stringers, offering direct links across the Wakefield district and beyond.

From Wakefield, the 189 Arriva service runs regularly throughout the day, travelling between Wakefield Bus Station and Castleford Bus Station with stops through Normanton and surrounding communities.

Travelling By Car & Parking

Castleford is easy to reach by car, sitting just off the M62 at Junction 32, close to the Junction 32 Shopping Centre and Xscape.

You can also approach via the A1(M)—use the A1(M)/M62 Holmfield/Ferrybridge interchange (M62 J32A) and continue towards Castleford.
Both Junction 32 Shopping Centre and Xscape provide free parking for visitors.
For Castleford town centre, there are 460 off-street spaces and 130 on-street spaces available in Wakefield Council-run car parks. Up to two hours free parking is available in most of these – please display a valid ticket from the machine. More information can be found on the Wakefield Council website.
