About
Take a stroll along the lakeside path, take a ride on the Pugneys Light Railway (available on selected weekends – pugneyslightrailway.co.uk) or make the short walk up the hill to Sandal Castle and see how picturesque the country park looks from above.
A haven for wildlife, the country park offers nature lovers the chance to see a variety of natural habitats. Head along the woodland trail to see a glimpse of Pugneys’ second lake, a hive of wildlife activity.
Treat yourself to a bite to eat in the Boat House Café or, if the weather is fine, bring your own picnic and enjoy the panoramic views across the lake. Please do not bring barbecues as these are not permitted.
Fancy a more active way of seeing all the park has to offer? J’s Cycles offer a wide range of cycle hire options to suit all ages and abilities. From children’s bikes and balance bikes to electric bikes, adaptive options, and child and doggy buggies, there’s something for everyone. It’s the perfect way to explore the park, whether you’re riding solo, with family or bringing your four-legged friend along. Bikes can be pre-booked online.
Please note: the car park is open until 9pm every night. The café and toilets close at 4pm.
