About

The Wakefield Sculpture Trail is a series of sculptures across the city, offering a unique opportunity for everyone to experience and enjoy world-class art. Each artist has created a work especially for the place, its history and communities.

The city is known especially for sculpture, being the birthplace of Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore. It is the only city outside London to have two Art Fund Museums of the YearThe Hepworth Wakefield and Yorkshire Sculpture Park.

A series of sculptures was commissioned for the city in 2023. The series offers a unique opportunity for everyone to experience and enjoy world-class art. All of the artists have strong connections to Wakefield and the local area, and each artist has created a work especially for the place, its history and communities.

The trail has been made possible thanks to £1m investment from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS), administered by Arts Council England for the specific purpose of creating outdoor contemporary sculptures in the city centre.
