Wakefield Westgate Railway Station is operated by London North East Railway (LNER) and is located close to the main shopping area and civic quarter.

Free parking is available for drop-off and collection only at the main entrance. A black and white taxi rank is located in the car park and the Free City Bus stops at this station.

There is a limited number of pay and display car parking spaces at the station.

The station has a manned advance travel ticket office and a same day travel ticket centre. There is also a staffed information point near the exit to both platforms.

Light snacks are available from the café located in the station and there is a newsagent near the main entrance with a cash machine located outside.

Long distance train services are available to/from London King’s Cross, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Bristol and Plymouth with LNER and CrossCountry.

Local trains include Leeds, Doncaster, Selby and Sheffield.
