Wakefield Westgate Railway Station is operated by London North East Railway (LNER) and is located close to the main shopping area and civic quarter of Wakefield.

Free parking is available for drop-off and collection only at the main entrance. A black and white taxi rank is located in the car park and the Free City Bus stops at this station.

There is a limited number of pay and display car parking spaces at the station.

The station has a staffed advance travel ticket office and a same day travel ticket centre. There is also a staffed information point near the exit to both platforms.

Light snacks are available from the café located in the station and there is a newsagent near the main entrance with a cash machine located outside.

Long distance train services are available to/from London King’s Cross, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Bristol and Plymouth with LNER and CrossCountry.

Local trains include Leeds, Doncaster, Selby and Sheffield.
