Barti Kher

BHARTI KHER: ALCHEMIES

Yorkshire Sculpture Park presents a major solo exhibition by Indian artist Bharti Kher, her most extensive UK museum show to date. The exhibition showcases Kher’s powerful sculptures from 2000-2024, including outdoor bronze works and a large clay piece made on-site. Centring on the female body and experiences, Kher’s works address timely political issues around gender and identity. Her art reframes perspectives on women through the lens of her own experiences, challenging fixed representations and hierarchies while considering women’s roles in society and culture.

Igshaan Adams

IGSHAAN ADAMS

South African artist Igshaan Adams presents a new body of large-scale tapestry works and “cloud installations” made of beaded wire sculptures at The Hepworth Wakefield. Exploring how human exchanges transform spaces and communities, the works build on Adams’ ongoing focus on the movement traditions of Namaqualand. For this exhibition, Adams collaborated with the Garage Dance Ensemble, having the dancers intuitively interact with painted canvases which then inspired the tapestries he created. Adorned with beads, chains and locally-sourced materials, the tapestries aim to record traces of the dancers’ psyche, bodies and memories through abstract movement. The exhibition underscores Adams’ interest in the visual rhythms of dance and narratives embedded in body movements.
