Free Park & Ride

A free of charge Park & Ride service is available during the Pontefract Liquorice Festival from Pontefract Park.

Route: Pontefract Park > Stuart Road > Pontefract Castle > Stuart Road > Pontefract Park

Timings: 9:30am – 4:30pm (approx every 15 minutes)

The bus will leave Pontefract Park approximately every 15 minutes between 9:30am – 4:30pm.

Please note the last route service will leave the town centre at  4:30pm.

The park gates will be closed at 5:30pm.

There are numerous off-street and on-street car parking spaces in Pontefract Town Centre.

Train

Pontefract Tanshelf Station

It is an approximately 15 minute walk from Pontefract Tanshelf Train Station to Pontefract Town Centre.

It is an approximately 8 minute walk from Pontefract Baghill Train Station to Pontefract Town Centre.

It is an approximately 14 minute walk from Pontefract Monkhill Train Station to Pontefract Town Centre.

Bus

Pontefract Bus Station 

Pontefract Bus Station is an approximately 2 minute walk from Pontefract Town Centre.

The Events Team at Wakefield Council are passionate about providing an enjoyable experience that is accessible to all.  

Our friendly team of staff, security, first aiders and contractors will be on hand to offer any assistance throughout the event.  You can find them in either Hi-Vis or Wakefield Council Uniform, look for ‘EVENT STAFF’ on their backs. 

Site Description

The main precinct and event site are relatively flat, the area can be easily navigated around without having to cross many steps and inclines.

Assistance Dogs

Assistance dogs are welcomed to all areas of the event.

Accessible Parking

The closest and most convenient blue badge parking to the main event site is at Valley Road (WF8 1LW) and Bridge Street (WF8 1PQ).

Accessible Toilets

Accessible toilets can be found within Pontefract Town Hall, and Pontefract Museum buildings.

Changing Places

Unfortunately, there is no Changing Places at the event site.

The closes Changing Places is at Frasers Plus Designer Outlet Leeds (formerly Junction 32) (Changing Places Toilets (changing-places.org)). 

Should you need any form of medical attention please inform a member of staff or security onsite where they can show you where the medical tent is located or request for a medic to come to you. We do not have any secure storage for medicines on site.
