Wakefield City Centre

Wakefield Live is a free, multi-venue festival across Wakefield City Centre. Taking place across the full day and night, a huge range of venues will throw open their doors to celebrate live performance. Expect music, comedy, theatre, spoken word and anything else the great creatives of Wakefield come up with!

Some exciting event listings include……

  • Daytime Rave at Merrie Studios (The Ridings): Family friendly silent disco in the Merrie Studios, which is wheelchair friendly. Come down and boogie through the shopping centre.

  • Wakefield Music Documentary screening at The Establishment: Film-maker Wayne Sable’s new Wakefield Music Documentary funded by Heritage Action Zone, debut will be screened at The Establishment. Alongside the documentary, there will be an ongoing stream of other local made films.

  • CAPA Juniors performing arts workshops at The Ridings: Free workshops for families and young people in the main commercial space. Free singing and dancing workshops, which is a performing arts pathway at Trinity Academy Cathedral. A timetable of the day will be posted nearer to the event with an easy sign up link.

  • Ruby Loxton Presents…. at The Providence: Ruby Loxton will be hosting a special gig at The Providence, showcasing some of the best musical talent that Wakefield has to offer. Ruby is a graduate of Long Division CIC’s education programme, which she took part in over the summer of 2021.

Wakefield Live is designed to be easy to get around. Everything is free to attend and much will be accessible and suitable for families.

The spaces taking part so far are: The Ridings Shopping Centre, Venue 23, Audiozone, The Providence, Mechanics Theatre, The Counting House and Wah Wah Records.
