About
A series of free workshops exploring different zine making techniques, including collage, redaction and zine creation.
In the collage workshop you will explore examples of existing collage work within posters, book covers, album art etc as inspiration and use additional materials, such as paint, paper, felt tips etc.
Participants will also play with collaging alongside their redactions to create their own mini-zine to take home!
Sessions
Collage Making
Sat 13 May Pontefract Library 10am, Castleford Library 2pm
The first workshop will be focused towards collage techniques and composition. Participants will experiment with creating posters, booklets, book covers or album/EP covers depending on their preferred choice. Participants will be encouraged to use imagery and text from the resources but also use additional materials, such as paint, paper, felt tips etc.
Redaction Zine
Sat 27 May Horbury Library 10am, Wakefield Library 2pm
In this workshop we’ll experiment with the process of Redaction – which is the censoring or obscuring of part of a text. This method is a great way to engage participants in important topics and allows them to create their own personal, humorous and topical texts by re-using and manipulating existing writing using permanent markers. Participants will also play with collaging alongside their redactions to create their own mini-zine to take home.
Zine Making
Tue 30 May Castleford Library 10am, Airedale Library 2pm
In this workshop participants will create their own miniature zine on a subject of their choice. Learn how to create a small booklet from an A4 piece of card and create your own zine. Participants will use a combination of traditional zine making techniques such as collage, drawing, writing and redaction.
